Polyurethane Flooring Systems

Elastic flooring systems for areas requiring flexibility, resistance to temperature fluctuation and wear.

Why polyurethane

Where flexibility makes the difference.

Polyurethane flooring systems offer flexibility where epoxy offers hardness. On floors that expand and contract with temperature, are exposed to vibration or move slightly, this flexibility prevents cracking and preserves the integrity of the surface. High color and UV stability also allows it to keep its appearance for a long time in areas exposed to the elements.

Where mechanical and chemical resistance come first, epoxy stands out; if the conditions involve flexibility, thermal movement or UV, polyurethane is the better choice. If your facility involves continuously wet and hot processes, see the comparison at the end of this page.

What sets polyurethane apart
  • Flexibility: Resists cracking under thermal movement and vibration.
  • UV and color stability: Keeps its appearance in sun-exposed areas.
  • Abrasion resistance: Handles intensive pedestrian and light vehicle traffic.
  • Comfort: Offers a softer, quieter surface underfoot.
Where it is used

Areas where movement and temperature change.

Polyurethane systems come to the fore where the floor flexes, moves thermally or is exposed to the elements.

System cross-section

Its flexibility comes from its layered build-up.

The flexibility and durability of a polyurethane floor come from correctly configured layers working together.

  • Finish coatProtecting against UV and abrasion, defining color and texture, the topmost layer.
  • Elastic body coatAccommodating thermal movement and vibration, the main layer that provides the system’s flexibility.
  • PrimerThe bonding layer between the concrete and the coating, providing the adhesion of the whole system.
  • Surface preparationWhere the concrete is mechanically cleaned and profiled: the stage that determines the adhesion of the entire system.
  • Concrete slabThe existing substrate the system is built on, its condition assessed beforehand.
